Community Partnerships
Right from the start Wheelabrator Technologies has recognised the importance of working in close partnership with the communities we serve. The reason is very simple, we believe local people have a right to understand what is happening at the plant neighbouring them. Our experience suggests the more local people understand how our plants operate, the more accepting they are about what is going on. This is because knowledge fosters confidence and trust, two virtues we never take for granted and continuously work hard to build.
Apart from regular communication about the operation, Wheelabrator Technologies always seeks to be a positive influence in the communities where we operate. This means we work closely with local opinion formers to decide how best to contribute to various aspects of the community. We help to fund educational programmes, support charities and invest in improving the natural environment. This is quite apart from our employees being encouraged to be good corporate citizens by being actively involved in civic-minded organisations such as the local chambers of commerce, Lions and Rotary clubs.
